Home / Ming Jiang
Ming Jiang’s research broadly focuses on trustworthy natural language processing (NLP) and artificial intelligence (AI) to prevent the spread of misinformation in digital knowledge acquisition and management. She is particularly interested in developing algorithms and resources to understand how humans and AI systems perceive information from digital objects such as texts and images. Prior to joining IU Indianapolis, Ming was a Ph.D. student at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, working on research projects supported by HathiTrust Research Center. During her Ph.D. study, she interned at Deep Learning Group in Microsoft Research. Dr. Jiang’s recent research covers two primary topics: (1) cultural awareness of language technologies; and (2) multimedia information transfer by vision-language models.
Since December 2023, Dr. Jiang has received two external grants, and was one of six global recipients of the Google Research Scholar Award in Natural Language Processing.
