Biography

Stephanie Ware is Joe C. Christian Chair and Professor of Medical and Molecular Genetics (M&MG). Dr. Ware directs the Indiana University Health – Indiana University School of Medicine participation in the NORD Rare Disease Centers of Excellence Network, co-directed the Genomic Medicine pillar for the Precision Health Initiative, and leads the Diagnostic Center of Excellence site of the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Network. She is a charter member of the IUH-IUSM genomic medicine council. Her research laboratory has made significant contributions in the areas of congenital heart defects and cardiomyopathy using animal models and performing patient-oriented research. She serves as the chair of the American Heart Association cardiac development study section and has served on multiple NIH study sections. She was the elected genetics representative of the Society of Pediatric Research and is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation.

Dr. Ware was retained and promoted to this position with funding from the AnalytiXIN grant. AnalytiXIN funding has also supported the development of the health data asset (the data lake), with leadership from the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics and the Department of Biostatistics and Health Data Sciences.
